The departme
nt of Music and Fine Arts was founded
in 1989 by the leadership of Assoc.Prof Engin Sansa in order to
offer students the opportunity to broaden their cultural understanding
and increase their skills in and appreciation of the fine arts.
In the beginning, the Department set out with e few music courses.
But later, the number of music courses were increased and new courses
like sculpture, painting, ceramics were added to the courses offered.
In the first years, the courses given by the department were non-credit
but now, these are three credit courses. 45 Instructors are working
as part time and full time in the department which has three plastic
arts studio and five music rooms. Approximately 35 courses are offered.
As well as these courses, the students and the instructors take
place in various artistic and cultural activities.
The department operates under the authority of the
University President. The main objective of the Department is to
offer elective and no-technical elective courses in music, theatre,
and the visual arts on a theoretical and practical basis. The courses
also provide students a cultural and artistic alternative in fulfilling
their requirement each semester.
